Supply list for second grade!

August 2, 2010

Dear Parents and Students,

Before we know it, the school year will begin, so I wanted to list some things that your child will need. I saw that many stores have sales now and I would hate to have you miss out on them

coffee can with lid (needed by November)
box of snack size baggies
two bags of throat drops
2 large boxes of tissues
2 full-size containers of baby wipes
a water bottle (to fill throughout the day)
box of colored pencils
regular pencils
unlined journal
one folder with pockets to be used as the take-home folder
markers (optional)
crayons (optional because I have a lot)
3 glue sticks
pencil top erasers
pencil sharpener
plastic index card holder for crayons (optional)
1 container to hold pencils, markers, erasers, glue, etc.

Please label your child's personal items. I look forward to seeing you and hope you are enjoying your summer.

Attached is a list of books that range from second to fifth grade levels. Please help your child choose a book to read and complete a report on it, over the summer. The Book Report Helper will guide your child through the prewriting steps.

After he/she completes the Book Report Helper, a final copy should be written in manuscript. The list of books came from www.bookadventure.com and I encourage you to use this Internet reading incentive program. It has thousands of titles of books for children as well as other fun things.

Turn in the final copy on the first day of third grade. Enjoy reading over the summer!
