We have provided the Shenango Valley with students who are caring, Faculty, staff, parent, and students have a strong sense of family. We work together with Jesus at the center of all that we do.academically prepared, and physically ready to become productive, active members of our community for the last hundred plus years. Our mission statement, philosophy, curriculum, and nuturing environment have been the strength and reason for our longevity. The Middle States Commission on Elementary Schools has accredited St. Joseph School since 1982.

Twenty-six eighth graders from Saint Joseph School presented original science projects at the regional meeting of the Junior Academy of Science held February 28 at Slippery Rock University. To participate, each student first chooses a project, researches known facts, formulates a hypothesis, collects and analyzes data and then states a conclusion. Teachers, college professors, and college students judge their ten-minute presentation. Students participating receive a first, second , third award or Honorable Mention Award. Their sponsor is Margaret Alford, science teacher.

Over the past year, Notre Dame School and St. Joseph School have initiated discussions of how the two schools may collaborate for more effective Catholic education. At this point, the Bishop considers this initiative still in the discussion stage; he has made no decisions, but is awaiting further information and recommendations from the pastors. These discussions were initiated by the two school advisory councils, with the support of the pastors and principals. The diocesan Catholic Schools Office has been involved in an advisory capacity, and Bishop Trautman is being updated regularly.
